these are perfect for whipping up a quick and delicious biscuit without having to fuss with cold butter! i half this recipe and make it in my small cast iron & toaster oven 🙂 one question, when i cut the dough before baking the cuts never last through the bake. so i usually just leave it as-is and cut at the end. what’s the trick to cutting beforehand so that the score-lines stay? thanks!

So glad you like them, thanks so much for your comment. I just make sure I make really clear cut lines before baking, I still have to pull the biscuits apart, but the lines usually stay.

I have not tried this recipe with self rising flour so I can’t say personally how it will turn out. I know that others have tried it and it worked. Please let me know how they turn out for you.

Yes, you can use a casserole dish. I would use a 7 x 11 inch baking dish or even a 9-10 inch cake pan. For the buttermilk, you can take 1 cup of milk and add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice or vinegar to make a substitute.
