Simple Strawberry Trifle

Summer is the time of year when the strawberries are fresh and the parties are a plenty!! This Simple Strawberry Trifle is one of my go-to desserts for all the get togethers! It is so easy to make, takes only a few ingredients, and is ready in just a few minutes. A store-bought Angel Food Cake definitely helps speed up the assembly of this trifle.

What You Will Need

You will need just a few ingredients to make this trifle recipe:

  • Store-bought Angel Food Cake
  • Sliced strawberries
  • 1 lemon
  • Whipping Cream
  • Cream Cheese
  • Sugar and Powdered Sugar
  • Vanilla

How to Assemble an Easy Fruit Trifle

Just a few simple steps and you are in trifle bliss!!

  1. Start by preparing the strawberries. Slice them all and place them in a large bowl. Sprinkle on the sugar and lemon juice and stir to get them all coated well. The sugar will draw out the juices from the strawberries making them almost syrupy.
  2. Next, you can prepare the cream cheese whipped topping. In a large mixing bowl or mixer, place the softened cream cheese, cream, vanilla, and sugar.

Beat until a soft, frosting like mixture is formed. This will take a few minutes for the cream to stiffen up a little. You want this to be soft and spreadable.

  1. Slice the angel food cake horizontally into 3 circles and then place that first layer in the bottom of the trifle dish. If you don’t have a trifle dish or your cake is too large or small, you can cut the Angel Food Cake into 1-inch cubes and place enough in the first layer to cover the bottom of the dish.

The next layer will be a layer of the cream cheese whipped cream mixture. If you are placing the cake as circles in the dish, fill the hole of the cake with a few strawberry slices so you don’t have a big clump of cream cheese in the center.

Add a layer of the sugared strawberries and repeat the layers, starting with another slice of the Angel Food Cake, cream cheese, and then strawberries.

The last layer will be a layer of Angel Food Cake, cream cheese whipped cream, whipped cream, and decoration. The top can be something as simple as strawberry slices, lemon zest, and dollops of whipped cream.

Use your creativity and make it your own!

Can I make Strawberry Trifle Ahead?

You can make this strawberry trifle at least 24 hours in advance. To make this trifle ahead, follow the directions for making the layers until you get to the whipped cream. This will be the last layer you put on the trifle.

If you are making this ahead, make the trifle and store covered in the refrigerator until you are ready to serve. Just before serving prepare the whipped cream and place it on top of the last layer of cream cheese whipped cream. Add a few more strawberries and lemon slices to make it pretty!!
