This Homemade Caramel Sauce Recipe is a delicious combination of butter, cream, brown sugar and vanilla. Perfect for topping ice cream, pancakes and so much more!!
In a medium sized sauce pan over medium-high heat, melt the butter.
Add in the brown sugar, cream and vanilla. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Continue to stir until mixture comes to a boil. Cook and stir for about 3-5 minutes, until the caramel thickens to a syrup like consistency.
Test by dipping a cold spoon into the pan and let the caramel run off. Next, slide your finger across the back of the spoon, if it leaves a line between and the caramel doesn't run together, you are good.
Remove the caramel from the heat and allow to cool 5 minutes before serving.
