Cooking Flank Steak in a cast iron grill pan or skillet is super easy and quick. Just a few simple spices is all you need to make this flavorful, delicious flank steak recipe.
Remove flank steak from refrigerator 10 minutes before cooking.
Place cast iron pan over medium high heat and allow to heat up
While the pan is heating, combine the sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder and onion powder. Season the steak on both sides with the spice mixture.
Pour in the olive oil and place the flank steak into the pan.
Cook for 5-7 minutes per side, depending on desired doneness. Check internal temperature with an instant read thermometer.
When steak has reached the desired temperature, place the butter on top of the steak and allow to melt down. Add the garlic and thyme to the pan and cook for 30 seconds, until fragrant.
Remove the steak from the pan to a clean cutting board. Pour the butter over the steak. Allow to rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
