German Pancakes (also known as dutch baby pancakes) are a pan pancake that gets puffy and golden in the oven. This is a breakfast staple at our house! Easy to make, even the older kids can make this on their own!
Preheat oven to 450ºF. In a 9X13 inch baking dish place the 4 tbsp butterand put in the oven while it heats up. Remove the baking dish when the butter has melted.
In a blender combine the 1 cup all purpose flour, 1 cup milk, 1 tsp vanilla, 1/4 tsp salt, 1 tbsp sugar and 6 eggs. Blend until smooth, about 2 minutes. If you don't have a blender, this can be done in a mixing bowl with a stand mixer, hand mixer or whisked by hand.
Pour into the baking dish with the melted butter and bake for 15-20 minutes, until the pancake is puffy and golden.

Make sure the oven rack in the lower center position, this pancakes puffs up pretty high and you don't want it to burn while baking.
