These Cinnamon Biscuits baked in a cast iron skillet are flaky biscuits with a cinnamon sugar twist, like having a cinnamon roll in under 20 minutes!! The Cream Cheese Frosting is creamy and delicious and just takes these biscuits over the top!!
In a large mixing bowl combine 2 cups all purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 3 tablespoon sugar, and 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon.
Grate the cold 6 tablespoons butter into flour mixture and toss until coated.
Pour in 1 cup buttermilk and mix with a wooden spoon until a dough ball has formed. It will be sticky but should pull away from the sides of the bowl.
Place the dough on a clean, well floured surface and press out to 1/2-3/4 inch thick. Cut out the biscuits using a 3 inch biscuit cutter or glass that has been dipped in flour. Continue cutting out biscuits and placing into a buttered 12 inch cast iron skillet until all the dough has been used.
Bake the biscuits for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the oven and allow to cool a few minutes before frosting.
Cream Cheese Frosting
With a stand or hand mixer combine the softened 4 ounces cream cheese, softened, 3 tablespoons milk, 1/2 cup powdered sugar, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat until smooth.
Drizzle or spread the frosting over the cooked biscuits just before serving.
