What you need to make Mango Salsa

Just a few simple ingredients and you are devouring a big old bowl of Mango Salsa. For this easy mango salsa recipe you will need:

  • ripe mango: when I pick out mangoes, I like to give them a gentle squeeze. If the flesh goes in easily, I know it is ripe and ready to use. If it is solid as a rock, you won’t be making salsa out of it anytime soon.
  • red onion
  • roma tomatoes: I prefer roma for this salsa because they are a little less juicy than larger varieties. If you don’t have or can’t find roma tomatoes another variety can be substituted.
  • red pepper: definitely the pepper of choice for this recipe. If you need to use another variety, I would go with either orange or yellow.
  • jalapeno
  • cilantro
  • salt

How to make Easy Mango Salsa

To make this Easy Mango Salsa Recipe start by peeling and chopping up the mango. I like to use a vegetable peeler to first remove the skin of the mango.

Then, slice both sides of the flesh from the seed of the mango by running your knife along each side of the seed in the center.

Dice each piece of the mango into small pieces. Place in a mixing bowl.

Dice the red onion, tomato, jalapeno, and red pepper, and add to the bowl with the mango pieces. Chop up the cilantro, stems and all. Add the cilantro to the salsa and give it all a generous squeeze of lime juice. Mix it all together and add salt to taste.

How to store leftover Mango Salsa

If you make this ahead or have any leftover Mango Salsa, store it in the refrigerator for 3-5 days in an air tight container. It is often better the next day after the juices have marinated everything.
