How to make White Chocolate Peppermint Popcorn

Get ready for the simplest treat recipe you have ever made, even easier than Rice Krispie Treats!! This one is easy enough, even the kids can help! Let them crush up the candy canes for you, they love breaking things!!

The first step in making this easy peppermint popcorn is to pop the popcorn. I used butter flavored microwave popcorn for this recipe. You can use air popped popcorn as well, no need to add any additional butter, just leave it plain.

popcorn kernels

Once your popcorn is all popped, pour out onto a baking sheet to remove any unpopped kernels. You don’t want anyone biting down on one of those and breaking a tooth!!

Place the popped popcorn into a large bowl, pot or lay out on baking sheets if you don’t have a large enough bowl.

melted white chocolate

How to melt White Chocolate

For this simple white chocolate popcorn recipe I used white chocolate chips. Place the white chocolate chips in a microwave safe bowl (nothing metal) and microwave for 1 minute. Carefully remove from the microwave, it might be hot, and give it a stir to help melt the white chocolate chips. If all of the chocolate has melted go ahead and move onto the next step.

If you still see a few lumps in the chocolate, place it in the microwave again and microwave for 15 seconds and stir, continue until all the chocolate has melted and is smooth.

pouring white chocolate on popcorn

Pour your melted white chocolate over the popcorn and stir to coat. If you have a large enough bowl, cover with a lid or cookie sheet and shake your popcorn to evenly cover with white chocolate.

Once your popcorn is coated evenly in white chocolate sprinkle with crushed candy canes and stir or shake to coat evenly.

Allow the popcorn to cool, or dig in right away! It is ready to eat!!
