How to Make Meatball Sandwiches
This recipe for meatball sandwiches made in a slow cooker is so easy and virtually hands off. You just need a few ingredients and a few minutes to throw this all together, then let the slow cooker do all the work.
Start by placing the frozen meatballs, spaghetti sauce and red pepper flakes into the pot of a slow cooker.
Turn the heat to low and cook for 5-6 hours or make it a little quicker and cook on the high heat setting for 3-4 hours.
After the slow cooker has done its work, you will have hot, saucy meatballs, perfect for piling into a sandwich.
To assembly these meatball sandwiches we like to cut up hoagie buns, then place 4-5 meatballs into the center of each bun.
Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and some shredded parmesan. Place them onto a baking sheet and under the broiler in the oven for 1-2 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Tip: for saucier meatball sandwiches, add 2 jars of sauce to the slow cooker. This recipe makes saucy meatballs, the sauce is just less runny when made this way.
