Why Use a Cast Iron Skillet for Pork Tenderloin?

Cast iron skillets are the ultimate tool for creating perfectly seared and evenly cooked pork tenderloin. Their superior heat retention and distribution allow for a golden-brown crust while keeping the inside juicy.

Plus, cast iron skillets transition seamlessly from stovetop to oven, making them ideal for one-pan meals like this.

Recommended Equipment

  • 12 inch Cast Iron Skillet– this is the cast iron pan that I use in my kitchen and for this recipe.
  • Instant Read Thermometer– the best pork tenderloin is cooked perfectly by measuring its internal temperature with an instant-read thermometer.

How to Cook Pork Tenderloin in a Cast Iron Skillet

Are you ready to make pork tenderloin in a cast iron skillet? Let’s walk through the simple steps:

  1. Prepare the pork tenderloin– start by removing the pork tenderloin from the packaging and pat dry with a paper towel.
  2. Season– combine the paprika, sea salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Use half the seasoning mixture to season the pork tenderloin on all sides. Reserve the rest to season the potatoes and green beans.
  3. Brown the tenderloin– place the cast iron pan over medium-high heat, add the avocado oil, and cook the pork tenderloin on all sides for 2 minutes, just until browned.
  4. Cook– add the potatoes and onions to the pan around the pork tenderloin and cook in a 425º F oven for 10 minutes. After 10 minutes, add in the green beans and cook an additional 10 minutes until tender.
  5. Rest– remove from the oven when the pork tenderloin has reached an internal temperature of 145º F. Allow to rest for at least 10 minutes before slicing.
