3 Ingredient Teriyaki Chicken Recipe
I love this chicken marinade recipe because of how simple it is to make, really all you need are the 3 following ingredients. I usually throw this together in the morning at breakfast time and then it is perfect in time for dinner.
- Lemon-Lime Soda- you do not need to go with a brand name for this one any lemon lime soda will work great in this recipe, so I say save a few cents and go with what is on sale!! One thing to note for this recipe is to NOT use a diet soda, it will alter the flavor.
- Soy Sauce- I just use regular, but low sodium is a great option for this recipe too
- Vegetable Oil- vegetable oil or canola oil
This marinade recipe makes enough for 6 chicken breasts. If you are making less than six you can still follow the same recipe and just marinade what you have, if you are making more, I would suggest doubling the recipe.
How to make Teriyaki Chicken
Combine the ingredients for the marinade in the zip top bag. Zip up the bag and shake or squeeze to combine the ingredients. Open up the bag and place the chicken breasts in with the marinade. Remove all the air from the bag and zip closed.
Place the bag in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours and up to 8 to marinade. When you are ready to cook, remove from the marinade and let any excess drip off back into the marinade bag. Discard the marinade.
How to grill Chicken
Preheat your grill to 350-375º F. Place the chicken on the grill and cook for about 10 minutes on each side. Try to only turn once if you can, the more you open the lid to your grill, the harder it will be for your grill to maintain the right temperature.
The best way to know if your chicken is done cooking is to use an instant read thermometer. You want the chicken to cook to an internal temperature of 165º F, use an instant read thermometer to check the temperature. This is ensure that your chicken is still tender and juicy and not dried out.
