Dairy Queen Peanut Buster Parfait
This Dairy Queen Peanut Buster Parfait is going to be dessert for our Father’s Day dinner this year. My husband LOVES his DQ ice cream treats, so I am so excited to make this one for him at home. Of course, homemade is always better.
It is hard to resist all the goodness in this simple dessert. This Peanut Buster Parfait is super easy to whip up in just a few minutes, just make sure you plan time for the ice cream to freeze up again, it can take a couple of hours.
Then serve this ice cream cake as is or with extra hot fudge, peanuts, and warmed peanut butter. So good!
How to make DQ Peanut Buster Parfait Cake
Just a few ingredients, simple steps and a little time is all you need to make this super delicious Peanut Buster Parfait Cake.
First, take your ice cream out of the freezer about 15 minutes before you are going to assemble the cake to allow it soften.
For the first layer, lay down some of the roasted peanuts into the bottom of an 8 x 8 inch baking dish.
Warm the hot fudge for about 30 seconds in the microwave so it is pourable, it will spread over the peanuts much easier. Pour the hot fudge over the peanuts for the second layer.
Next, scoop the softened ice cream over the peanuts and hot fudge. Spread the ice cream out into an even layer with an offset spatula or knife.
Continue with another layer of peanuts, hot fudge and ice cream. For the last layer on top of the ice cream, sprinkle more peanuts, then drizzle some hot fudge all over the top.
For something a little extra on top, I like to heat up some creamy peanut butter in the microwave, then use a fork to drizzle the softened peanut butter all over the final layer of this Peanut Buster Parfait Cake.
How Long to Freeze Ice Cream Cake
Once you have all the layers of your cake put together, place the cake into the freezer to allow it to harden up. My cake took about 4 hours to freeze solid again.
Depending on how solid you want your ice cream to be, you will need to allow 2-4 hours for your ice cream cake to freeze. I like to make this cake a day in advance of when we will be eating it to make sure that it is frozen.
This can be made ahead and frozen for up to 3 months before serving, just be sure to cover tightly with plastic wrap and foil.
To serve this ice cream cake, take the cake out of the freezer at least 10 minutes before you are going to serve it, so you can easily slice into it.
