bowl of sweet and sour sausage

This easy sweet and sour recipe is a simple go to for a quick meal. We love to eat this over rice or even noodles. Ready in under 20 minutes, which nobody can hate that!!

All this goodness can be made in ONE PAN!! Yay, less dishes!! That is my favorite way to cook!! Quick, simple ingredients and a quick clean up!! Life is too busy to be standing at the sink doing dishes….or maybe I just hate it!!

How to Make Sweet and Sour Sausage

To make this simple sweet and sour sausage recipe, start by cooking the sausage. Leave the sausage whole to begin the cooking process. They will be easier to slice into pieces if they have cooked through a little bit.

Cook the whole sausages for 5 minutes on each side. Remove from the pan and slice into one inch pieces.

cooking sausage and vegetables

Add the pineapple, peppers, celery, carrots and onion and cook until tender, about 5 minutes. Place the sliced sausages back into the pan to finish cooking through with the vegetables.

While the vegetables and sausage continue to cook, mix together the sweet and sour ingredients. Pour into the pan and bring to a boil. Boil and stir for 5-7 minutes until the sauce has thickened.

How to serve Sweet and Sour Sausage with Vegetables

When I make this recipe for the fam, I like to serve over warm rice. This makes a quick dinner and all the bellies are full and satisfied.

Other ways to serve this are over rice noodles, in a lettuce wrap or even just on their own.
