How to Make Chocolate Bark

This really is the easiest dessert to make for easter. Let’s walk through the simple step to make easy easter bark.

  1. Prepare a baking sheet: Get everything ready for the melted chocolate. Line a baking sheet with a piece of parchment or waxed paper to pour the chocolate out onto.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: There are two ways to melt the chocolate for this recipe. First, it can be placed into a microwave-safe bowl, cook in 30-second increments, stirring in between until the chocolate is melted. It can also be melted in a metal bowl over a pot of boiling water. Pour the melted chocolate out onto the prepared baking sheet and spread out until it is to your desired thickness.
  3. Melt and Color White Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate chips in the microwave just as above. To color the white chocolate, pour some of the melted white chocolate into a separate bowl and add a few drops of food coloring. Stir to evenly mix in the coloring.
  4. Decorate the Chocolate Bark: work quickly as the chocolate will start to set as it cools. Place dollops of the colored chocolate all over the melted milk chocolate that has been spread out on the baking sheet. Use a knife, skewer, or chopstick to swirl the colors around in the chocolate, making a beautiful design. This is the fun part! Then add on your candies and sprinkles for the final touch.

Quick Tip

Place the bark in the refrigerator for 15-20 minutes to speed up the cooling process!

Tips and Storage

  • Don’t overcook the chocolate: stir the chocolate after each round in the microwave. Stop cooking once all of the chocolate melts away as you stir. If you overcook the chocolate, it will become hard and won’t spread.
  • Hold the candies in place: when breaking the chocolate bark into smaller pieces, hold some of the candies in place so the chocolate will break around them keeping them on the chocolate and not popping off.

Store the broken chocolate bark pieces in an air-tight container or zip-top bag for 2-3 days.
