How to make Rice Krispie Bats
Prepare a baking sheet by spraying with cooking spray.
To make the rice krispies, first, you need to melt the butter and marshmallows. I like to do this in the microwave. Place the butter and marshmallows in a large microwave safe bowl . Microwave on high for 2 minutes, take out the bowl and stir the butter and marshmallows. Continue microwaving for another minute until they are smooth.
You can also do this over the stovetop with a heavy pot. Melt together the butter and marshmallows over medium heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
Add the Cocoa Krispies to the melted butter and marshmallow mixture and fold in until everything is mixed together and covered. This can be a super sticky combination. The best way to handle the rice krispies is with a little grease.
To mix up the Cocoa Krispies and marshmallow mixture, spray a wooden spoon with cooking spray before mixing, this will help it from becoming a big stick with a ball of rice krispie treat!
To spread the rice krispies on the baking sheet, spray your hands with cooking spray or put butter or oil on them to prevent sticking to the rice krispies as you spread them out on the cookie sheet.
Spread out the rice krispies to the desired thickness, they may not fill up the entire baking sheet.
Time to make the bats. Use a cookie cutter to cut out the bat shapes. I have this awesome bucket of cookie cutters that has shapes for everything! I highly recommend adding it to your kitchen collection.
Cut the bats right on the baking sheet, removing the cut ones to a greased plate or cooling rack. Once you have cut out some bats, press the scraps back together and make more bats. Continue this process until no more rice krispies are left.
While the bats are still sticky, place some sprinkles on for the eyes.
