Tips for Making Blossom Cookies
- Start with room temperature butter. You want the butter to be soft, not melted.
- If your butter is still too cold, you can use a cheese grater to grate the butter into the mixing bowl, this will allow the butter to get soft quickly
- Cream together the butter, sugars, egg, vanilla and peppermint extract.
- Once you have the butter and sugars all mixed together, sift in the dry ingredients. I like to do this by placing a metal strainer right over the bowl with the butter mixture. Add all of the dry ingredients into the strainer and then shake it to sift the dry ingredients into the mixing bowl.
- To make uniform sized cookies, use a cookie scoop to scoop and shape the dough into a small ball and place onto an un-greased baking sheet.
Baking Blossom Cookies
Bake the cookies in a 350º F oven for 7-10 minutes. They will be soft in the center and nice and crisp on the edges. Remove the cookies from the oven when they are done baking and place onto a cooling rack. Allow to cool for 3-5 minutes before placing a Kiss into the center of the cookie.
