What You’ll Need For This Recipe
Ingredients
- Brussel Sprouts-little green cabbage like vegetables that are the star of this side dish recipe
- Olive Oil-this will help the Brussel sprouts crisp up when baking in the oven
- Sea Salt-these larger pieces of salt add a lot of flavor to each bite
- Black Pepper-the only other spice need for this recipe
How to Roast Brussel Sprouts in the Oven
Prepare the Brussel Sprouts
- Slice the bottom off of the brussel sprouts and peel away any of the loose, browned leaves from the outside of the brussel sprouts.
- Wash the brussel sprouts to remove any dirt that may still be on them. Slice the brussel sprouts into halves lengthwise.
Season and Prepare for Baking
- Place the cleaned and sliced brussel sprouts on a greased or parchment lined baking sheet. Drizzle with olive oil, then sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper. Give the brussel sprouts a toss to make sure they are all coated in olive oil and salt and pepper.
Bake
- Bake the brussel sprouts in a 400ºF oven for 25-30 minutes. While the brussel sprouts are baking be sure to open the oven every 7-10 minutes to given them a quick toss. Just do this by shaking the pan an few times and then let them get back to baking.
- The brussel sprouts are done when they have become tender, you can test this by poking with a fork, or just take one out and give it a taste. You want the outside to be nice and toasted and crispy, it adds so much flavor.
What to Serve with Brussel Sprouts
These Brussel Sprouts are so good on their own, you could just make these the whole meal….but they also go really well with the following dishes, this is our favorite way to eat them.
Recipe Variations
While I love the simplicity of this easy recipe, you can bump it up a little by add more spices. Try adding 1/2 teaspoon of each onion powder and garlic powder then sprinkle over the brussel sprouts before baking.
These would also be delicious with some fresh parmesan cheese or you could try my recipe for crispy parmesan roasted brussel sprouts.
Storage and Leftovers
Store any leftover brussel sprouts in an air tight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. These can easily be reheated in the microwave, air fryer or oven.
To reheat in the air fryer or oven, heat to 350º F and roast the brussel sprouts for 7-10 minutes until heated through.
