How to Make Hot Chocolate in a Slow Cooker
This recipe for hot chocolate in the slow cooker is as simple as dumping in the recipe and heating.
Pour in all of the milk, cream, sweetened condensed milk, and other ingredients and stir until combined.
Place the lid on the slow cooker and allow to heat up on high for 2 hours, stirring every 20-30 minutes, until the chocolate is melted. This can also be cooked on low for 4-6 hours. Stir at least every hour to make sure it doesn’t burn on the bottom.
Once the chocolate chips have all melted and the hot chocolate is heated through, turn the heat down to low or warm.
Keeping the heat at a lower temperature will keep the hot chocolate perfectly warm and won’t allow it to boil. If it does begin to boil be sure to turn down the heat, you don’t want the hot chocolate to burn.
Stir occasionally while serving to keep the chocolate distributed evenly.

Slow Cooker Hot Chocolate Recipe
Ingredients
- 12 Cups 1 % Milk
- 3 Cups Heavy Cream
- 2 14-ounce cans Sweetened Condensed Milk
- 2 1/2 Cups Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
- 2 tsp Vanilla
Instructions
- Pour all the liquid ingredients into a slow cooker and wisk to combine. Add chocolate chips and turn slow cooker to high. Allow the hot chocolate to heat on high for 2 hours stirring occasionally until all the chocolate has melted and is heated through.
- Once the chocolate has melted and the milk is warmed through, turn the heat down to low. Do not allow to boil.
- Serve on its own or with whipped cream and mix ins of your choice.
