Tips to make Homemade Pumpkin Granola
I have seen packages of pumpkin granola popping up at my local groceries stores recently and I caved and bought a bag to give it a try. Needless, to say, I was a little disappointed in how unpumpkin it tasted, so I set out to create my own.
- Start this simple homemade granola recipe with fresh ingredients.
- I like to use organic pumpkin puree and pure maple syrup for this recipe (however, that is totally optional when you choose to make this recipe)
- Placing a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet is so helpful not only for keeping the pan clean, the paper can be used to funnel the granola into the container you will be storing it in.
- Keep an eye on your granola as it bakes. Check it about half way and give it a shake. As you get to the end of the baking time, check the granola frequently as oven temperatures can vary and the granola can burn quickly.
- This granola recipe can all be mixed right in the same mixing bowl, making for an easy clean up. Simply poor everything into one bowl and then poor it out evenly onto a baking sheet that is lined with a parchment paper.
- Allow the granola to cool completely before you place it into air tight containers to store.
How to Store Homemade Pumpkin Granola
This Pumpkin Granola can be store for up to six months. Allow the granola to cool completely and place into air tight containers or zip top bags. Store in a cool, dry place. If you live in a humid climate, the granola might not last as long.
If you would like to freeze this granola, to make it last longer, place into a zip top bag and squeeze out all of the air.
