Honey Garlic Chicken
This Honey Garlic or Garlic Honey Chicken Recipe is the perfect blend of sweet and savory. This chicken recipe is perfect for those busy weeknights when you only have a few minutes to throw something together for dinner.
You are going to love this chicken recipe because it only takes a few minutes to make, takes just a few simple ingredients, and is finally something everyone will eat! This is also a perfect cast iron chicken recipe if you enjoy cooking in a cast iron skillet.
We love to serve this over a bed of white or brown rice with a side of broccoli and a fruit salad. While I prefer to make this recipe with chicken breast, this sauce would also be delicious on chicken thighs or even chicken legs.
Recommended Equipment
- 12 inch Cast Iron Skillet– this is the cast iron pan that I use in my kitchen. This recipe makes just 2 filet mignons, but you could fit up to 4 in a 12-inch cast iron skillet. This is the best cast iron skillet for steaks.
- Garlic Press– using a garlic press makes it so easy to mince up fresh garlic in just seconds and fresh garlic will take this recipe to the next level.
How to make Honey Garlic Chicken
Let’s walk through the simple steps to make honey garlic chicken in a cast iron skillet right on the stovetop.
- Prepare the Chicken– slice the chicken breasts into two halves, if your chicken breasts are thick.
- Cook the Chicken– Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add in some oil for cooking. I like to use either avocado oil or olive oil. Brown the chicken on both sides until it is cooked through and no longer pink on the inside. To make sure you chicken is always cooked perfectly, I recommend using an instant read thermometer and cook the chicken to 165º F.
- Prepare the Honey Garlic Sauce– while the chicken cooks, combine the ingredients for the Honey Garlic Sauce. Once the chicken is done, pour the sauce over the chicken breasts and bring the sauce up to a simmer. Allow to cook for 3-5 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
Garnish the chicken with green onion and sesame seeds and serve over warm rice, be sure to drizzle extra sauce over the chicken before serving.
Leftovers and Storage
This is such a great recipe for meal prepping because you can make a double batch and eat it throughout the week. Store any extra honey garlic chicken in air tight containers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
Reheat the chicken in the microwave in 30-second increments until heated through.
