How to Make Banana Layered Dessert
Let’s walk through the simple steps to make Banana Layered Dessert.
- Prepare the Crust: make the Golden Oreo crust layer by placing the cookies into a food processor, process them until they are sand-like. Add in the butter and mix again until well combined. Press the crust into the bottom of an 8 x 8 inch pan, then cool in the refrigerator for at least 10 minutes.
Quick Tip
If you don’t own a food processor, place the cookies into a large zip-top bag and smash up the cookies with a rolling pin.
- Make the Pudding: mix the cold milk and instant banana pudding mix in a mixing bowl with an electric mixer for about 2 minutes. Set in the refrigerator until ready to use.
- Make the Cream Cheese Layer: in a separate mixing bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, vanilla, and powdered sugar, until well combined. Use a spatula to fold in the whipped topping. Then spread the cream cheese layer over the top of the cookie crust.
- Layer: add a layer of fresh-cut bananas over the cream cheese layer. Over the bananas, spread the banana pudding, then top with a layer of whipped topping.
- Chill: cover the banana dessert with plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours.
- Enjoy: just before serving, add additional sliced bananas, and broken cookies on top of the dessert if desired.
Can this Banana Dessert Recipe be Made Ahead?
Banana pudding dessert can be made a few hours in advance of when you will be serving it. This layered dessert recipe is best eaten on the same day because the crust can get soggy the longer it sits.
That being said, we have definitely been found eating this recipe the next day, it still has all the delicious flavors, just a softer crust.
