Korean Beef Rice Bowls
Ground beef recipes are a staple in our home because they are inexpensive, can feed a lot of people, and let’s face it, they are good! These Korean Beef Rice Bowls are a perfect example of a simple, inexpensive meal. I think sometimes we only want to make a good hamburger with ground beef, but it really can be used for so much more.
The best thing about these Korean ground beef bowls with rice is the sauce. It is similar to my stir-fry sauce but with fewer ingredients and a delicious, savory flavor. This recipes starts with browning up the ground beef, then slathering in that rich sauce and allowing it to thicken for about 30 seconds. Serve over rice for a delicious weeknight meal.
Recommended Equipment
- Enameled Cast Iron Skillet– this is the skillet I like to cook in daily. Any non-stick skillet will also work well for this recipe.
- Spatula for Cooking– I like to use a wooden spatula to help break up the ground beef and move it around the pan.
How to Make Ground Beef and Rice Bowls
Let’s go through the simple steps to make this easy dinner happen in your home in just a few minutes!
- Cook the Ground Beef– start by placing a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the ground beef with just the white part of the green onion, until the beef is cooked through and just a little crispy. Drain any excess grease from the pan by soaking it up with a paper towel, or use a spoon to scoop it out.
- Make the Sauce– gather up your ingredients for the sauce and whisk together. Pour the sauce over the cooked ground beef and cook and stir until the sauce thickens, this will only take a minute or two.
- Serve– serve the beef and sauce over cooked rice, or even try it over coconut rice for extra flavor. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
