I feel like our air fryer is the one kitchen appliance we tend to use the most often. It makes cooking so quick and easy since you don’t have to wait for the whole oven to heat up. These chicken thighs cook up quick in the air fryer and come out perfectly cooked.
How to Cook Chicken Thighs in an Air Fryer
To cook chicken thighs in the air fryer, start with bone-in, skinless chicken thighs. At least that is how I prefer them. I feel that the bone helps keep a little moisture and I like to cook these without the skin. If you prefer to leave the skin on, you can absolutely cook them that way, they will get a nice, crisp skin on the outside.
Start by trimming up the chicken thighs as needed, use a sharp knife to trim the skin away from the meat of the thigh if you did not buy them with the skin already removed.
Next, pat the chicken thighs dry with a paper towel. In a small bowl combine the paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, sea salt, black pepper and parsley.
Rub the chicken thighs with a little bit of olive oil on all sides and season liberally with the spice mixture.
How long to cook Chicken Thighs in Air Fryer
Start by preheating your air fryer to 375º F. My air fryer, the Gourmia 6 quart, has a setting for preheat and will beep when it is ready for the food to be added. If your air fryer does not have this option, simply preheat for 5-7 minutes before adding the chicken.
Place the seasoned into the basket of your air fryer. Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning halfway through the cooking time.
How do I know when the Chicken Thighs are done?
The best and most accurate way to know when your chicken is cooked to perfection is to use an instant read thermometer. This, Thermapen One is the thermometer I use.
The chicken thighs are done when they have reached an internal temperature of 165º F. Take the chicken out of the air fryer and allow to rest for about 5 minutes before serving. This will allow the juices to redistribute and make for super juicy chicken.
