How to Make Easy 7 Layer Dip

This 7-layer dip recipe may seem like a lot of steps to make, but it’s actually really easy to make. Let’s walk through a few simple steps with some tips and tricks to make this simple Halloween appetizer.

Step 1: First, start by combining the refried beans and the taco seasoning in a bowl until it is well combined. Then spread the refried beans onto a serving platter that is at least 12 inches in diameter. This dip can also be made in a round pie or cake pan if you don’t have a platter.

Step 2: the next layer in our 7 layer dip is the sour cream. Place the sour cream into the center of the refried beans and spread out evenly with a spatula or even an offset spatula works great as well.

Carefully spread the sour cream almost to the edge of the refried beans.

Step 3: on top of the sour cream, add a layer of guacamole. Spread it out the same as you did the sour cream, with a rubber spatula or offset cake spatula, close to the edge of the sour cream.

Step 4: For the last four layers on our recipe for 7 layer dip, we are going to place a layer of salsa, shredded cheddar cheese, sliced tomatoes, green onions and black olives.

Place these last four layers all around the outside of the dip, leaving a round part on top of the guacamole clean so you have room to make the sour cream web.

Step 5: to make the sour cream spider web in the center of the 7 layer dip, place about 1/4 cup of sour cream into a small zip top bag.

Cut a little piece off the corner of the bag to squeeze the sour cream out in a thin line.

To easily draw the spider web, make one vertical line in the center of the guacamole, another line horizontally across the center, then two more diagonal lines, in the center of the four spaces made from the first two lines.

Then, connect the spider web lines around the outside and around the center of the sour cream. Hope that makes sense!

It is really easy to make, I suggest testing your spider web skills on another surface before doing the final spider web on your 7-layer dip.

How to Serve Spider Web 7 Layer Dip

This Halloween dip has so many yummy flavors that go great with tortilla chips, spoon some on fresh tortillas or even serve with fresh vegetables.

Check out my recipe for easy homemade baked tortilla chips, you can shape them however you like. I like to make some ghosts and pumpkins to use in this simple dip.

Can I Make 7 Layer Dip Ahead

This dip is better made and served the same day. I wouldn’t make this more than an hour before you serve it. It can be kept in the refrigerator until it is party time.
