I have even been known to put out a bowl of this broccoli with butter and garlic before dinner as a little appetizer and it is always devoured in a matter of minutes!
How to make Garlic Butter Broccoli
Let’s walk through the simple steps to make broccoli in garlic butter, it’s not rocket science, and once you try it, this recipe with be on repeat.
- Chop the Broccoli– remove the crown (the top part) from the stem and cut the broccoli into smaller, bite size pieces.
- Heat the Pan– heat a skillet or cast iron pan over medium heat, pour in some olive oil or other cooking oil, and heat until shimmering.
- Cook the Broccoli- add the chopped broccoli to the pan and cook and stir for about 5 minutes, until the broccoli is tender. The broccoli will become a beautiful dark green, now you are ready to add in the goodness!
- Season with Garlic and Butter- add in a tablespoon of butter and one clove of minced garlic, season with salt and pepper, and cook for another 1-2 minutes. Enjoy the delicious buttery garlic smells coming from that pan!!

Can I use Frozen Broccoli for this recipe?
This recipe can easily be made using frozen broccoli if that is what you have on hand. Cook the broccoli in the microwave according to the package instructions then transfer to the pan to add the butter and garlic.
You can also place the frozen broccoli in the pan with a few tablespoons of water, cover, and cook until tender. Then saute in the pan with garlic and butter.

Ingredients
- 2-3 Broccoli Crowns chopped
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 tbsp Butter
- 1 clove Minced Garlic
- Salt and Pepper to taste
Instructions
- Heat large skillet over medium heat and add olive oil. Chop broccoli by removing crowns from the stem and chopping into bite size pieces.
- Saute chopped broccoli in the olive oil for 5-7 minutes until broccoli is dark green.
- Add one tablespoon of butter and minced garlic to saute pan and cook until fragrant. Season with salt and pepper and serve.
